Italy in early May

My daughter and I have 18 days in Italy and France starting May 4. I'm flying open jaw to somewhere in Northern Italy, and then we fly together out of Paris. She is WWOOFing for the month of April just outside of Pisa. When we meet up, I'm thinking of 3 nights in Cinque Terre to hike, 3 nights in Venice, then possibly either hitting the Dolomites or Lake Como for pretty scenery/outdoor activities before moving into Southern France, with our eventual destination being Paris.

Any recommendations on either the Dolomites or somewhere in the Lake District, or skipping that altogether and spending more time in France?

Since she'll have a month in Italy prior to me getting there, and I've been to Venice and Florence before, that is part of why we are spending time in Northern Italy and France.

Thanks so much for any advice!

Defiantly go to Lake Como and Dolomites. It will be a really amazing adventure. Possibly you can do 2 nights in Cinque Terre and then take the train to Lake Como. Bellagio is a great base to stay in Lake Como. I just read this article on the Dolomites and it is a MUST see. I think your daughter will love that. They are all great towns to see, meet people and just explore. Article by Rick Steves on Dolomites/Alps: http://www.ricksteves.com/watch-read-listen/read/articles/italys-undiscovered-alpine-retreat
