Italy in December

We will be entering Italy from France around December 19th and leaving from Rome on Dec. 30th. Since it is winter and the holidayshow and where do you recommend we concentrate our efforts? (My 19 year old daughter is less tolerant of the museum scene ;-) Thanks

Hi Carol. We are spending Dec in Italy, from Venice to Umbria, then on to Sorrento and finishing in Rome. Sorrento is nice for exploring the Amalfi Coast and Pompeii, and in Rome there are many things to do other than museums. Consider splitting your time between these two locations. I count 11 nights, so 10 full days. Rome strikes me as an better place to actually be on Christmas than Sorrento, so maybe the 19th - 22nd in Sorrento, the 23rd-30th in Rome. Google "Christmas in Rome" and you'll find lots of info and ideas.

Thanks Laurel,
Hmmm, I hadn't thought about going south to Sorrento--I'll check that out.

Ron in Rome has some helpful info: There's no place like Rome for the Holidays.
