My husband and I would like to get suggestions for an Italy iten. for 10 days. We are going tobe going last two weeks of August and have about 10 whole days in Italy. We will be in Kitzbuhel prior to this and we were wondering how to plan our trip. We don't want to spend a LOT of time sight seeing as suchj, just want to spend 3 days doing the sigth seeing in Rome, 2 days in Cinque Terre and then renting an apartment for 5 days in Southern Italy (Amalfi) from where we can head to Greece for 6 days. We don't even mind driving from Austria to some nothern parts of Italy if recommended. Any suggestions would help.
Simran,
It sounds like you have your itinerary. We'd skip the CT since you are going to Amalfi. Add those 2 days to Rome.
Safe travels!
Here are Rick's suggestions:

I would skip Ct as well. Would recommend Florence if you have 2 days to spare. We were able to see the main sights in Rome in 3 days easily. Make sure you swing by Pompei and Capri when in Amalfi!
From what the hotel staff told me in Riomaggiore the CT is VERY crowded during August. Italian vacation time.

I would absolutely not skip Cinque Terre! I don't know what the Amalfi coast is like but CT was breathtaking, the second I stepped off the train I was in love with it's charm! I had two days and three nights there and felt like that was perfect! I stayed in Vernazza but Monterosso was my favorite of the 5.
