Italy in 10-11 days arriving in Milan and departing from Rome

Hi:

I am traveling to Italy with my wife and 10 year old daughter this November. One pivotal-fix day in our trip is on Wednesday, **when our family will like to attend the Papal Audience and Mass in the morning. We plan to rent a car in our last day in Florence to visit in the next 2 days Pisa, Volterra, and Siena and return the car in Rome; we are traveling by train the rest of the time.

Is my itinerary okay? Any suggestions on what shall we expect during the season, days and times selected for each city or how to optimize our time.

My Itinerary:

THURSDAY: Early afternoon arrival to Milan, (evening diner with friends)
FRIDAY: Milan (morning and afternoon), early evening departure to Florence
SATURDAY: Florence (all day)
SUNDAY: Florence (all day)
MONDAY: Pisa (morning) and Volterra (afternoon), sleep in Siena
TUESDAY: Siena (morning and afternoon), late afternoon departure to Rome
WEDNESDAY: Rome and Vatican City (all day)**

THURSDAY: Rome's Baroque Treasures (all day)
FRIDAY: Rome’s “Caesar Shuffle” (all day)
SATURDAY: Late morning departure to Naples, Naples (afternoon), sleep in Naples
SUNDAY: Pompeii (morning) and Naples' National Archaeological Museum (afternoon), sleep at Rome’s airport.
MONDAY: Return home

Looking forward for your comments.
Thanks,
Nestor

I would save Naples for your next trip and add a day to Florence or Siena. Stay wherever you like in Rome and don't waste your last night at an airport hotel unless you have a super-early flight. You have 11 nights in Italy, and with your itinerary you will be sleeping in six different places (Milan, Florence, Siena, Rome, Rome airport, and Naples). That's a lot of traveling in a short time frame.

With that said, this is your trip and your business. You will be seeing some wonderful things with your itinerary and you know what your family can handle.

It sounds like a well thought out plan. You will want 2.5 minimum hours for Pompeii, an incredible site.
