Hi.
Looking to go to italy for 10 days. What would be a good itinerary of different cities to hit in those days?
Venice 3 Florence 3 Rome 4 in that order
Fly into Venice take trains and then out of Rome
Ditto. Its the classic no-brainer. Frequent, fast, and relatively inexpensive trains connecting them.
When will you be traveling? The Venice-Florence-Rome itenarary is very popular, but we wanted to go to the Amalfi Coast. We gave up Florence to do next time. We did:
Venice- 2 nights (we arrived at 11:00 the first day, so got in a lot)
Rome - 4 nights
Positano - 3 nights
Naples - 1 night to fly home the next day. We saw Herculaneum the last day.
We loved our schedule. I didn't feel we packed too much in at all.
I agree with the itinerary of Venice 3, Florence 3, and Rome 4. You will not go wrong with that itinerary.
And another ditto: Venice, Rome and Florence. Give Rome one more day than the other two because it's the largest and has the most ground to cover. Don't fly both IN and OUT of the same city, though: you'll make better use of your time flying into Venice, taking a train to Florence, taking a train to Rome, and then flying home from there.
