Hello, I will be traveling in Europe for 4-5 weeks. I will be coming from France (Paris) and would like to go straight to Italy. The cities in the order I would like to see are Milan, Venice, Rome, Florence and Pisa. We will leave to Nice France and over to Spain. Suggestions on main places to visit but want to relax as well... beaches? Thanks!

Also what about the rail system? That will be our main transportation. Any suggestions would be great!

Your request is so broad that I suggest you read the RS Italy 2011 book as a start. That will put you in the position to ask more specific questions. Good luck.

For train schedules http://reiseauskunft.bahn.de/bin/query.exe/en You may want to look at the travel time by train from Italy to Spain, longer than you might think. You said beaches, but none of the 5 destinations you mention has beaches. (edit: yep, Michael's right, I forgot all about the Lido, does anyone, from N. America, go to Venice for the beach?)

Actually, Venice does have a beach. It's called the Lido.
