My husband and I do not want to travel to Italy in the scorching heat but I am a teacher and am considering the tours that leave U.S. on June 29th. Is there a good chance we will be spared the heat and crowds of later in July and August?
There is no way of knowing what things will be like in the future anywhere. We were in Munich this year in July and it was unusually hot--around 85 degrees every day, certainly not to be expected.
The crowds and the weather will be what they will be when you are there. Focus instead on what you want to see and do and don't fret about what is out of your control.
No, it really gets worse the farther you go into the Summer. Italy's air conditioning is really not up to U.S. standards, either. And much of Europe takes vacation in August. You should leave as soon as you get through with your school obligations.
Unfortunately, June through August is high season on airfares, and 2014 flights appear to be as expensive as 2013.
No, you will not be spared the heat and crowds of later July and August. It is about same in the period and depends a lot of where you go as to heat.
Late July and early August is the absolute hottest time, also the most crowded, especially in coastal and mountain locations.
The best time for you to go to Italy, considering your school schedule, is the day after the last day of school, I.e. as early as possible in June.
Been to italy the past two years beginning July 6th each time for three weeks. Last years brutal heat every day. This year first two weeks not overly hot then the heat came. I expected crowds and they were there. July firs my schedule so I just deal with it.
