Italy End of February

Hello, need some advice on the following itinerary. I am meeting my 22 yr old daughter in Milan and taking two weeks to travel around Italy in the end of Feb. No car. Just trains. We love cafes and exploring cities and long walks/hikes. We both have been to Tuscany, Cinqe Terra, Rome before. Here is the loose plan:
2 nights Milan (Arrival)
2 nights Verona
4 nights Florence
2 nights Sorrento
3 nights Rome (departure)
Thoughts?

Welcome!

Looks ok
Because of the travel time from Florence to Sorrento I would give it at least 3 nights

I'd skip the 2 nights in Sorrento. Mostly because it takes a while to get there and back from Rome and it's basically still winter so many things will be closed. Are you going there just as a springboard for Pompeii or ?? Maybe spend those two nights in Naples if you haven't explored it yet and really wanted to head south of Rome. There are definitely good cafes with delicious pastries in Naples.

What are your plans for Sorrento? You have about 1 day for any sightseeing so if you want to go to Pompeii and see some of the Amalfi Coast, you would not have enough time. Otherwise, I think you're good, We were just in Verona. We did a day trip from Padua. A day is a pretty good amount of time for Verona.

Welcome to the forums, Erin!
Like some of the others above, I might suggest rethinking Sorrento due to the amount of time it would take to get there and that the weather could be a crapshoot in winter. Maybe consider re-allocating those nights to Verona for day trips to Venice, Padua, Mantua, etc?

If you've not done it on a previous trip to Rome, you might enjoy a long trek on the Appia Antica in Rome on a warm-ish, sunny day. Lots of interesting things to see along the way, and you could adjust how much of its ground to cover according to how much time/shoe leather you want to give it. Best on a Sunday, if possible. Let's just say that it would be a safer bet in late winter than hiking in the Amalfi Coast region, if that was the plan.

Ditto--why Sorrento? If you are eager to visit Pompeii (but want to avoid Naples), then maybe, but I would put those nights toward your other stops. February is not the ideal time for it otherwise.
