Italy End of December

Hello!! I have booked a flight to Milan Round trip 12/26-1/1. I have been to Rome and florence a few times and would like to explore some new cities. Any suggestions? i havent been to italy in 8 years!
Ive been to bologna, parma, cinque terra and Pisa. I am open to going back to Florence but think for such a short trip, Rome will need to happen another time. TY!!

Maybe Turin? Hosted the Winter Olympics, home of Fiat cars, close to the Alps, easy to reach from Milan, museums, elegant architecture, less touristy than most Italian cities, chocolate! Never been but it’s always sounded interesting to me.

I loved being in Venice that time of year - beautiful light, and substantially less crowded.

Yes, consider taking the train straight to Venice (we have done this from Milan and it's easy and quick), then back to Milan for the night before your flight back.

Torino not a bad idea, either. I believe we took a bus from Torino directly to MXP without having to go into Milan and then back out to the airport, so look into doing that MXP to Torino and back. On the night before your flight back, you can stay in a hotel near the airport that has a shuttle from and to the airport --- this will maximize your time in Torino. I can recommend a hotel, too --- Hotel Osteria della Pista.

Nice!! What about Lake Como? Anyone been in the winter? I am concerned about prices, but is it worth going? Is the food good? Ty!

Lake Como is not really a winter destination. Certainly people love there, but my experience with Italian lakes is the tourist services are very limited.

Venice is, indeed, a great idea. Christmas is festive there with gorgeous lighting. Of course Florence and Turin offer many museum options and are no doubt beautifully decorated as well.

If you crave countryside instead of cities, you could venture to the Dolomites, it prices are very steep starting December 24 as so many hit the slopes between the holidays.

Why not just visit Milan? The Duomo, The Last Supper, La Scala, Shopping and restaurants, they are all wonderful. Lake Como for a day trip? Verona or Parma for a day trip? I thought Venice for a day trip was a bit far and Venice has so much to offer I would definitely give it more than a day trip.
