I purchased a ticket from Milan to Pisa online. I received a receipt for this ticket saying it was an e-ticket. Do I need to exchange this for a real ticket in the train station. If not, how do I validate the e-ticket before boarding?
I assume the ticket includes a reserved seat. If so, no validation is needed. The conductor will check your e-ticket once on board. Make sure you have a printout or your smart phone.
Yes, the ticket is first class w/reserved seats. We have printouts in our Italy file to take with us. Thank you for the information.
On your e-ticket, you should see a 6-character PNR number. The conductors carry wireless PDAs. They can check it onboard. You don't need to validate the e-ticket but I do anyway because I like the habit of validating. Comes from riding to many Regionale trains where you must validate.
