We'll be travelling in Italy during April. What town would be the easiest to visit during Easter? (arriving in Rome on April 1st, leaving Rome on April 29th)
The larger cities will all be busy at Easter, Rome perhaps the most crowded. Locations in the country would be somewhat less affected by the Easter holiday period.
In 2004 we spent Easter in Sorrento, wonderful experience! We arrived by car with no reservations and managed to get a room at one of Rick's rec. places, but only got it because we were staying 5 days, and people who had it booked were only staying two, yikes (we found this out several days later). We have always tried to book ahead on our travels since! Watched the processions, altho at the time we weren't really certain what they all meant. Back home I asked my Italian instructor (she is from Calabria so was very informative) and we did research. Experiences like this is why I travel! Altho we are not the least bit religious, this past Easter we spent in Sevilla, also a wondeful experience.
