Best way to get from Salerno to Sicily. IS there a train
Yes, there is a train but it takes ages.
You can also fly from Naples, or take a night ferry.
You are welcome.
If going to Taormina, the train is the fastest way, Salerno direct at 10:39 to16:40; Catania at 17:28 in which case you would fly from NAP. I've taken it to Taormina from Napoli Centrale. At Villa S Giovanni the train stops and another pulls alongside; then they back onto the ferry, where you go upstairs for drinks and snacks. You never really see the ferry, but it must be gigantic to fit normal-sized trains.

If there is a choice between a short flight and a direct train taking 6 hours or less, I'll take the train.
