Italy Car Service Tipping

We have a car service planned to pick us up at the airport and take us to our hotel. Is it customary to tip the driver in Italy?

You don't have to tip for anything in Italy, it's not customary.
Even if some roman waiters and car services will prey on your sense of guilt, they ask tips only to English speaking tourist because they know an Italian would tell them to get lost.

In this case, note that drivers own both the car and the NCC license. You would be tipping an entrepreneur, a free-lance. If you really have money to waste enter a church and tip the poor.

I didn't know the car service worked like that in Italy, each driver being a free lance. We booked though a company, Sergio & Partners Transfer Service I believe the name is. It makes sense now that you say that, thank you Dario, I appreciate your help.

If only the money donated at the church went to the poor!
