Looking to travel to Italy this summer and have had an incredibly hard time finding beds 200 cm long, as every place we’ve looked at only has 190 cm beds. I sleep with my arm outstretched (a habit I just can’t break) so a normal-sized bed is super important to me. Are 200cm beds that uncommon in Italy that it’s a waste of time to look for them?
In Italy the standards are (W x L):
Letto Matrimoniale Standard: 160cm X 190cm
This is by far the most common in both hotels and homes. Actually many hotels put two twin beds together since the length is the same while the width of a twin (letto singolo) is 80cm.
Letto Matrimoniale Standard Extra: 160cm X 200cm
This extra length size has been offered by many brands in recent years. Usually taller people would buy these for their homes, but I doubt many hotels have them.
Letto King Size: (160cm x 190cm or 200cm)
Length of the king size is the same as above Standard and Extra (190 or 200cm), but King is wider (180cm instead of 160cm). I doubt most hotels would have this size unless they are luxury hotels and maybe they do.
As a frame of reference in the US the standard Queen size is about 152cm x 203cm, while the standard King size is about 193cm x 203cm. We are taller and bigger in America, thanks to McDonald's.
