Italy and Germany in two weeks!

All: Booked my next Euro flight - planning to check out Rome & Venice, and then Munich & Berlin in a two-week span. Flying open-jaw into Rome and out of Berlin. Anyone else done a similar jaunt? Looks pretty doable via RS's train schedules. Anyway, tips are appreciated - thanks!

Erik, That should be an easy trip to do in two weeks, and will give you a chance to have a look at four great cities. Using open-jaw flights is a great idea! When are you planning to take this trip? Travel between all of the cities is easy by train. For example: > Rome to Venice - 3H:48M via EuroStar Italia / Alta Velocita > Venice to Munich - this will likely be the longest trip at 7H:27M (usually one change at Verona Porta Nuova) > Munich to Berlin - 5H:52M via direct ICE (there are other trains on that route with one change and slightly longer travel times. Are you using the Guidebooks to plan your touring in each of the cities you'll be visiting? Happy travels!

Ken: Thanks for the encouragement and information :-) I'm set to go next month - I have family staying at my house while I'm gone, so no worries there. It's been four years since my previous Euro trip, so I'm excited! As for guidebooks, this will be the first time I utilize the electronic editions - I bought RS's Italy and Snapshot editions for Berlin and Munich on my Kindle. I'm planning to bring my iPad along, and perhaps even my Kindle, so that I have plenty of reading material and can also access Wi-Fi. I will also use the Pocket Pilot laminated/folded maps for each city. I found the Paris edition helpful for my last trip there in 2007. Cheers, Erik
