Planning a trip this October and am interested in info/experiences/advice on renting a place for 2 women who need separate beds, "due letti" I think it's called. Interested in Rome and Florence in particular. We're using public transportation, planning to stay 2 weeks divided among Florence, Rome and Positano. All advice appreciated.

Try "sleepinitaly.com". They rent apartments and B&B's in both Florence and Rome and (I think) Positano as well. We rented a beautiful apartment in Florence this past March from this agency. They had lots to choose from in all areas of these cities and were very reasonable. I have no problem recommending this agency.

I have used vrbo.com several times and loved having the convenience of a kitchen and laundry facilities. You can pack lighter and take home more goodies. In the 1/2 dozen places I have rented, I have never had a problem. I am planning a visit to Positano and it is suggested that you stay in Sorrento and make Positano a day trip. Check out tripadvisor.com too. It is a very helpful site. Have fun!
