Hello, I am heading to Europe with 2 friends and we are ending our trip in Rome. I love Positano and am wondering if it would be too much travel to fly from Paris into Naples, head to Positano for 2 nights then back to Rome for 2 nights? Any advice is appreciated!
I am not a big fan of two night stands -- really that is only one day plus a couple of hours. And it is easy to fly from Paris to Naples so not sure what you are asking. I would not do that schedule.
Possible it is. Worthwhile? Doubtful.
2 nights in London , 5 in Paris, 2 in Rome and 2 in Positano.... I suspect you will need a vacation when you get home.
Have you examined how much time it will take to get from place to place and how much time you will actually have being there?
Thanks for the feedback! Do you think we should stick to 4 nights in Rome or do you know any beaches north/South of Rome that might involve a little less travel time?
Nicole, the fun three ladies loose in Positano will have should far outweigh travel issues.
Enjoy the Limoncello!!!!!!!
I would stay in Rome for those 4 nights, especially since you are ending your trip there. There is so much to do, you will wish you had more than 4 nights.
What if you just stayed in the Naples area and made a day trip to Positano? Or spend the whole time in Positano, since you already know you love it. You can fly out of Naples instead of Rome.
Pick one. The travel between Positano and Rome is not easy and eats up much of a day, which would be a waste of your short available time.
You could go to the beach at Ostia near Rome, if you must have beach time. WHat time of year?
I am the minority here: I would do it! I love Positano!!! I will sleep when I get home!
Take the first flight out of Paris into Naples. Putting in a random date, there is a a flight from Orly Paris 7:20am arriving in Naples at 9:30am. ( yes that mean getting up in Paris around 4am). Take a ferry in Naples around 11am to arrive in Sorrento at noon. Check ferry schedule on capri.com. Then take another ferry or a car service to Positano. By mid afternoon you should be in your hotel terrace enjoying a glass of prosecco.
Spend 2 nights in Positano. On the third day travel to Rome. Spend 2 nights in Rome.
I forgot to add, I would make sure everyone travels very very light: carry-on only.
You will be amazed at the amount of time "lost" relocating from on place to another. It's not just the actual travel time. It's also the time spent packing up, checking out of the hotel, getting to the airport or train station, going through security (for flying) and then waiting for the plane or train. Then you have to find the new hotel, check in, unpack, and etc. Don't mean to rain on your parade as it sounds like a wonderful trip. Just something to think about so the three of you can make the most of the time available to really see things other than airports and train stations.
Do you think we should stick to 4 nights in Rome
Yep, that would get my vote. There's a ton to see in that one, and you'd kill too much of the 3.5 days you have to work with in transport to/from Positano. If some beach time is a MUST, consider Laurel's suggestion for a day trip to Ostia.
