Italy 2025

I am planning my first trip to Italy December 21-31, 2025. I understand this is jubilee in Rome, but I was hoping to get a few days in before going to Naples and Foggia. I'm mostly interested in local stays, small local restaurants, and the Christmas markets. Should I be able to see some of the sights or should I hold off on Rome until my next trip?

You need 4 nights to see the basics in Rome, preferably at the end of your trip if you plan to fly home from Rome. The most important Christmas market that I know of is Piazza Navona. Not sure what you mean by local stays, but there are plenty of small local restaurants, however Romans prefer to stay out of the touristy city center and patron restaurants in neighborhoods like Monteverde, Testaccio, Prati, Monti, Trastevere etc. you can use The Fork or TripAdvisor to locate some with good reviews.
