Italy 18days(Rome,Tuscany,Florence,C.Terra,Venice)Family of 4

Family of 4 with 2 teen girls traveling from Oregon to Amsterdam for 3 days & then Italy for 18 days,6/17-7/8. We have yet to arrange any accommodations and plan the trip.I need help with specific accommodations and suggestions with our itinerary. June 17-19, Amsterdam for 3 days June 20 early flight from Amsterdam to Rome. July 9 early flight home from Venice via Amsterdam. We don't need a car in big cities of Rome, Florence, Venice, and Cinque Terra. Will plan to rent a car in Tuscany. Amsterdam 3 days, Rome 4 nights, Tuscany and Florence 7 nights,Cinque Terra 4 nights, Venice 3 nights Here's our tentative itinerary. Day 1-3:(6/17-19) Amsterdam: Canal Boat Ride, Anne Frank House, museum. Day 4-8:(6/20- 24) Fly to Rome & stay 4 nights. Day 9-14.(6/25-7/1) Rent car for 1 week in Tuscany 7nights in a hill town & day trips to Florence vs. 2 days in Florence + 5 nights in hill town. Plan to explore Sienna,San Giminagno, Montepulciano Day 15: (7/2) Travel via car vs train to Pisa, Luca on way to C. Terra Day 16-19:(7/3-7/5) C.T. Village hikes. We enjoy hiking & the water. Day 19- 22:(7/5-7/8) Travel to Venice. Train vs Car? Day 22(7/8)Venice Stay at airport hotel to fly back home on early flight 7/9. Questions: 1. Suggestions/ changes to Itinerary? 2. Need help with accommodations: prefer to rent apts
3. Where to stay when exploring Florence and Tuscany hill towns. I will probably like this part of the trip the most when we are out of the busy major cities. Find a place with a pool. Should we base ourselves in a hill town for 7 days vs. 2 nights in Florence + 5 nights in hill town? 4. Should we rent a car from Tuscany to Venice, planning not to use the car in Florence, C.Terra and drop car off in Venice OR use train everywhere else but in Tuscany?

I was looking at someone else's itinerary involving the same main sites and was wondering if I should change the order of places to visit. Once again, we are a family of 4 with 2 teen girls, so I need to figure in if renting a car vs. train is most economical. Clearly a car in Tuscany is a must. 1)Currently planning Italy part to start from Rome to Tuscany & Florence, to Cinque terra, then end in Venice. 2)Or should I go from Rome to C.Terra, then Florence & Tuscany, then to Venice.

If you are interested in renting an apartment in Venice, I highly recommend this apartment. Good luck.
