Hi Wendy,

Are you planning to travel by train or car? If by train, Rick's Italy book has a section called "Transportation Connections" at the end of each city chapter. For example, the time between Rome and Florence is 1.5-2 hours and there are 2 trains per hour. It also has an excellent section in the back of the book that includes maps with routes, how to read a train schedule, etc.

If you're driving you can look each segment up on ViaMichelin.com

wendy,

Regarding the time frame for each city, it would really help to know how much time you have for your holiday in Italy? Also, what types of sights are you interested in seeing in each city?
