ItaloTreno: Late Summer/Fall 2018 Tickets

Hello!
Does anyone know when ItaloTreno will make tickets available for purchase for dates beyond July? Thanks!

P.S. - I know Trenitalia has theirs already available, but the Roma-Firenze route is 19,90 euros there while the ItaloTrano options begin at 9,90.

The typical schedule change occurs in early June for trenitalia so I think treno would follow the same pattern since they are in competition with each other. Are you sure of the 9.90 fare for Treno? The 19,90 fare is the super economy fare for trenitalia and generally they are pretty close in price except for a promotion from time to time. The risk that you run is that 19,90 fare could go away while waiting for the other fare. 19,90 is a pretty reasonable fare.

Thanks Frank!
Well let’s just say that putting in random dates, including the last few weeks of July, there are 9,90 euro tickets for the Roma-Firenze line; about 4 or so time options have that prices I can’t say for sure that even when later dates are posted that they will be the same.
19,90 is a good price, however I will be purchasing for 4 persons, so saving 10 euro per ticket is a better option for me.
I see Trenitalia actually has a 7,90 train option, but I’d like to get into Florence earlier and it’s over 3 hours versus 1.5 hours on ItaloTreno.

It is OK to wait as long as you understand the system. There are a set number of ticket available for each price level. Once gone they don't come back at the last minute. And July is prime travel so the pricing will be set accordingly. Good luck

Monique,

Could you clarify which train and date you're looking at that takes 3 hours from Rome to Florence? The Freccia trains take exactly the same time as the Italo trains, as they travel at the same speed on the same tracks. I have to wonder if the 3 hour train was an Intercity / Regionale, as the high speed travel time on that route is ~90 minutes. Also, which website are you using to research trains?

Using an arbitrary date of 27 July, Italo is showing fares a €9.90 PP in Smart category (some restrictions).

Yes, it is an intercity train, departing at 612p and arriving at 920p.
I don’t use train search engines - I go directly to the source. So I am on Trenitalia’s site and using the date that I need (October 3).
I cannot enter October 3 as a date for ItaloTreno as it doesn’t go beyond July, yet. Hence my question.

So what I was saying was if I don’t want to wait for ItaloTreno but want to pay less than 19,90 euro, I can get the 7,90 train - except it arrives late and takes a long time.
