Italo vs. Frecciarossa trains

I am in the process of booking our return train from Venice to Rome for late October. Which of these two is preferable? We would like to travel in comfort.

They are both comfortable, especially in First Class. The Italy website is a little more user-friendly.

Both comfortable. I'd book the one whose schedule best meets your needs.

The other issue is what fares they offer. And whether you are amenable to a non-changeable, non-refundable discount fare.

They are both comfortable at that Frecciarossa level... below that I give Italo the edge.

I have never met an Italo second class seat that I didn't love. The movies in the movie theatre car were a little distracting, but all I did when I got tired of them was change to a different seat.

Just,

I'm late getting into the discussion, but I'd book with whichever one has the best timing and price for the trip you'll be taking. The Venice-Rome route is all high speed and the Italo Treno rolling stock is a bit newer but both are very comfortable.

If you haven't travelled by train in Italy before, note that the high speed trains have compulsory seat reservations which are specific to train, date and departure time. You can ONLY use the one train listed on the ticket. If you board any other train by mistake, you'll be subject to hefty fines which will be collected on the spot.
