Wondering if others have experienced problems getting tickets from Italo Treno? I made a purchase and have yet to receive confirmation. They have no e-mail support so I resorted to international calling (at cost). Twice, support personnel sent me e-mail but I did not receive it. Finally, a gentleman provided me with my ticket code. So I looked it up and tried to send the info to two other e-mails all to no avail. Checked all the spam filters, etc., nada. Even their download function doesn't work! I liked the idea of traveling on their trains but this hasn't left me a good impression.
Did you check your credit card statement to be sure you were charged?
Yes, I was charged and the support reps confirmed both it and my information. I can look up the reservation online, I just can't get the confirmation sent to me or download it via the website. I'm not looking for a solution at this point, just wonder if others have had problems before I book a second ticket that I need.
Are you using .net mails?
Anyway you just need the train code and seat number,
I would purchase the tickets through Trainline.eu. I've bought Italo tickets through there without problemo.
I am hoping they get your tickets right since they've taken your money!!
Thanks Dario and Kim. I will look at Trainline and yes, I now have the ticket code after a couple of calls to Italo.
I didn't have any problems with my Italo ticket purchase but I went ahead and created an account on their web site versus purchasing as a guest. You might try that.
As for calling overseas for tech support (or reservations, or what-ever), try using a voice-over-IP (VOIP) service such as Skype (it's not just for video calls) or Google Gmail. For pennies a minute, you can call just about anywhere in the world. Bonus, you're right in front of your computer screen.
AT one point I did start down the path of creating an account but I had already bought the ticket. Good suggestion on Skype and Google Voice, I also have heard Whatsapp is one to have.
If also recommend using Trainline.eu as the website is very user friendly once you're registered. Another benefit is that they sell tickets for both Trenitalia and Italo (as well as many other rail networks in Eutope) so that provides "one stop shopping". They also have a smartphone app.
Skype and Google Hangouts both let you make international calls for a few cents/ minute. But Google Hangouts lets you call home to the US from Europe for free, even to landlines. WhatsApp can't call landlines as I understand it.
Good luck with your ticket!
