Italo Trains in Italy - Luggage storage

The Italo website states: "Your luggage can be stored in the easily accessible luggage-racks and glove compartments inside our Smart coaches or under the seats and in the special CCTV-monitored luggage spaces in the coach vestibules. Some coaches of our Smart, Comfort and Prima ambiences also feature some practical lockers."

Questions: Has anyone stored their luggage under their seat and/or above their seats on an Italo train while traveling in "Smart Class"? Will a 25" pull luggage fit under or above the seats?

I've read that people have stored their luggage above the seats on the racks on Italo trains but the photos on their website don't show any overhead storage. I don't want to store my luggage at the end of the car - I want to keep my eyes on it and not leave it out of sight.

Thanks!

What we have noticed - not specific to Italo - is that the newer cars are designed with higher or raised seats that have room for a carry-on size under the seat and no overhead racks. The overhead racks always had amount of danger associated with them. I doubt if you could get a 25" bag under seat. If you could it might prevent your seat mate having access to that area. 25" bags are quite excessive. We have tossed bags in the luggage bins for years with no problems. The threat of bag theft on trains is very, very low.

Thanks Frank for the speedy comment reply to my post. I just purchased a new set of pull luggage and was thinking of returning it and using my old pull bag. Thanks to your post I'll keep the new set since it has a smaller pull bag of 20.5" vs. my old pull luggage of 25". Your post was very helpful!
