Italo Train Stike September 5th-Help with Rome to Florence

My husband and I are taking the train from Rome to Florence on September 5th. However, I heard that there is supposed to be a train strike that day, and during the time of our ticket. It is the Italo train. I have read that you need to find out if your ticket is a guaranteed train ticket. And if is not, to switch to a guaranteed ticket. However, I do not see that list anywhere. I have researched that information on the Italo website with no luck. When and where can I get the information on if our timed ticket is a guaranteed train ticket? I am trying to figure out our back up plans as well so any advice on how to navigate this would be helpful as well.

Thanks!

I do not know if or where Italo has a list of guaranteed trains but one option might be to switch to a guaranteed Trenitalia train. Here is a link to the Trenitalia list and information. I hope someone can give you more help with Italo.

Unfortunately, Italo doesn't publish their guaranteed list until a few days before a strike, so you won't know until then. The strike ends at 6pm, so if you can delay your plans until after that, trains will be running.

The strike may still be called off and even if it happens, your train may still go even it's not on the list.

My husband called Italo and said that there was no strike? He said that if there is going to be one that they will post it on their website closer to the date and list the trains that are guaranteed. The guy on the phone made it sounds like that it was unlikely that Italo would be participating in it.

A lot of strikes are announced, few are held. And a few trains always run on the strike day. There is something like 50 trains a day between Florence and Rome. I would not worry about it until the day before. In nearly a year in Europe over the past 40+ years we have only been caught in one train strike and that was in Spain.
