Hi.
We have purchased high speed train tickets from Rome to Venice, online and have seat allocation etc. we have since decided that we would like to disembark in Florence for a few hours and purchase separate tickets there to get us to Venice later in the day. Can passengers disembark at a different stop or are we obligated to travel the entire journey to Venice as scheduled on our ticket????? We can’t re arrange the booking as they aren’t flexi fares. Any advice would be great?…. Thanks. Tonso.
With an Italo “Economy” Ticket you can change the ticket you have for a different train to Venice for a service fee of 20% of the ticket’s original cost. The new ticket will need to be bought at prices in effect at the time the ticket is changed.
Italo “Low Cost” tickets can be changed to a new time and date for a service fee of 50% of the ticket’s original cost with the new ticket’s fare being the price available at the time the ticket is changed.
The bottom line is that if you really want to change your ticket, it’s better to do it sooner rather than later when the train ticket prices will likely have risen.
Thanks. Yes I know we can alter the ticket, but the penalty is almost the same as purchasing new tickets from Florence to Venice. I guess what I’m asking is, can we get off in Florence instead of Venice as originally planned without notifying Italo ???? . Thanks again.
Yes, just get off at Florence, leave your bags at the luggage place at the station.
Buy new tickets for Florenze to Venezia Santa Lucia.
Perfect. Thanks so much. This is what I was hoping to hear.
