Italo still not refunding?

Was supposed to fly into Milan on March 18th (Delta obviously cancelled). Then had Italo trains from Milan to Rome, Rome to Florence and Florence to Milan.

As far as I can tell, even with lockdowns and other cancellations, they are providing no refunds?

Kevin, As of today, trains are running normally in and out of Milan. Rome to Florence is outside the restricted movement zone announced last night, so definitely unaffected.

I am guessing you bought a discounted non-refundable ticket. Unless and until they cancel the train, I doubt you will get a refund.

And that is why you carry trip insurance and hopefully you bought the options that cover this type of problem.

They did offer refunds ( or credit?) for travel to and from the quarantined areas up through 1 March. Perhaps in light of the recent proclamation they will adjust the dates, but it may take a few days for them to work it out. I would expect it to be a credit for future travel, not a refund.

Last I heard from them was on Friday, when they announced "spring specials".

Things have changed since then.

Most Italians say they were caught off guard by Conte's late-night announcement last night (this morning !). I am sure Italo is working through what in the he** they can do now that these restrictions have been mandated.

Frank,

Even exhaustive trip insurance isn't as exhaustive as it says it is.
