ITALIAN TRAIN LINGO

WE ARE FIRST TIME TRAIN TRAVELERS IN ITALY. WHEN YOU ORDER YOUR SEAT FROM TRENITALIA HOW DO YOU KNOW YOUR FARE ? STANDARD, OR A SOMEONE SUGGESTED AMICA (IF AVAILABLE). WHAT IS THE PROPPER CHOICE ? WHAT DOES IT MEAN ? WE DO NOT WANT TO OVERPAY NOR NOT TAKE ADVANTAGE OF A GOOD FARE. THANKS

As you select each of the fare classes in the drop-down box, you'll notice the 1st and 2nd class fare boxes right beneath changing to reflect your latest selection. We can only select Flexi (the most expensive but the most flexible if changes or cancellations are necessary), Standard (self explanatory) and Amica (some restrictions on cancellations or changes). Amica fares, if available, are 20 per cent cheaper. I always travel 2nd class to save.
