Italian Train fares

I am able to look at schedules but no "fares". Does anyone have approximate cost for....
1)FCO to Civitavecchia
2)Livorno to Florence
3)Messina to Taromina

Many Thanks for all.

Thanks Kent. I know "purchasing" is not possible. I just wanted to info to work on my Travel budget prior to leaving the US.

Ah, you've done your homework (we've been trying to make doing your homework easier with the new stickies).

Are you seeing the fares on the Trenitalia site I gave you?

Sorry, don't see any fares. Only schedules. Perhaps I am doing something incorrect?

BJ (OP) needs help from our of our Trenitalia website experts.

She's not trying to buy tickets, just look at the price of the various fares.

Can anyone help her?

use this site to look at fares.

Fares that require advance booking and that are only available online--these you won't be able to take advantage of, since you can't buy tickets on the Trenitalia site (because it rejects all US credit cards).

BJ,

Some information on your questions:

1.) Roma Fiumicino to Civitavecchia - I wasn't able to get a "single price" on that route, but you can get some idea by adding the separate cost of the Leonardo Express at €11 plus Roma Termini to Civitavecchia at €7 for first class and €4.50 for second class.

2.) Livorno Centrale to Firenze S.M.N. - the prices I found were €9.90 first class and €6.60 second class.

3.) Messina to Taormina - No prices were listed?

I used "arbitrary dates" in September for the prices I listed above. These may different for the days you'll be travelling, but at least this will provide some idea.

Happy travels!

I think the Trenitalia site will only provide fares 60 days out.

I did Messina to Taormina for tomorrow and got a price of 3.70 euro on the regional train (both first and second class which suggests to me that there's no first/second class separation on this route).

Also, note there is more than one station in Messina.

There is a less expensive option for FCO to Civitavecchia. Take the local train to Roma Trastevere station, where you change to the train to Civitavecchia. Total 2nd class cost of the 2 legs is EUR 9.60. No need for 1st class on such a short trip.

Could it be the date is too far in advance? I couldn't see fares for March 2010 travel, but tried an earlier date just to get an idea and then fares (some) were shown.
