My husband and I are looking for a small to medium size city in southern Italy where we could take Italian language class. We would like to be gone for the month of November and be somewhere that we could travel by train on the weekends. Are there any suggestions out there.
Salerno has Accademia Italiana. I found Salerno to be a fun place to visit with great train connections. I spent 3 weeks there.
We spent a week in Lecce last March and would happily return to spend a month there. The oldtown area is beautiful, and the evening passeggiata is the most fun we have experienced in our Italy travels. There are good train connections to the towns up and down the Puglia coast.
The University of Oregon runs a summer language program in Lecce. You could contact them and see which language school or instructors they use for their program.

Hi Jenny, For the past few years I have toyed with the idea of doing an Italian language class in a smaller town in Italy but always end up just traveling in Italy and not taking classes. I did research Language schools and have saved a list of those that appealed to me. Here is one I found in Puglia in Alberobello, Trulli School that looked interesting. No personal experience attending it but it is in the southern Italy area you desire. I also saw that someone suggested a school in Lecce and I think that would be a good location.
