Italian Riviera which town to stay in?

We are going to the Italian Riviera in April. Will restaurants and shopping be open? Any recommendations on a town to spend a week or 10 days?

We love Santa Margherita Ligure, Camogli and Portovenere on the Italian Riviera. I can’t imagine shops and restaurants being closed.

We loved our stay in Santa Margherita Ligure last May
It’s a working living town, doubt closures will be a problem
There are some very good restaurants and very few Americans

Not sure I’d want 10 days, a week would be lovely and allow time for day trips, relaxing

Thank you so much for the replies! Any recommendations on where to stay? Were you in hotels or VRBO?

That's a beautiful time of the year to go, you'll love it! We stayed in SML in April about 5 yrs ago and everything was open. Taking the ferry to Portofino is a pleasure without all the yachts, crowds and celebrities the summer brings. We stayed at the Metropole, diagonally across from the train station. Because it was off season, we were lucky to get a beautiful room overlooking the sea for a lot less money than in-season, palm trees, beach and hotel grounds, a breathtaking view I will never forget. It included a wonderful buffet breakfast too.
We took a bus to Portofino one night for dinner along the coastal route, it was spectacular and reminded me of a movie with Sophia Loren! Enjoy!
