We are flying in/out of Nice and have a week to play! We're up for the French or Italian rivera. Where have you stayed/what have you seen that you'd recommend to fellow travelers?? Any amazing experiences?
Thanks!!
You might enjoy the Cinque Terre - strictly about play! Vernazza, in my opinion, is the town to use as a base. You can walk, train or boat from town to town. Can be crowded with tourists and Italians but I'm not sure that should stop you!
Santa Margherita Ligure is a pretty city, but not a village like the Cinque Terre towns. I consider SML to be a nice addition to the Cinque Terre experience, not a substitute. Nearby, Portofino is more like a Cinque Terre town in layout, but with yachts and high-end designer boutiques like Emilio Pucci.
If you like nature, flowers, plants, trees, water, I highly recommend Hanbury Gardens. The gardens are located between the French-Italian border and the town of Ventimiglia. We'd live there if they would let us.
No need to go so far. San Remo is interesting and lively. The 'Rock' villages of Dolceaqua and Apricale are knockouts. Cervo is charming as is Finale Borgo and the center of Albengo. The Porto Maurizio side of Imperia is evocative.
I deleted this version of your question from General Europe, so that all responses could stay on this page (there were none on the other):
Hello fellow traveling enthusiasts- we will be traveling to/from Nice for our anniversary and have 8 days to explore. First stop is Eze (chateau Eza) and I believe we'll go as far as Genoa. Trying not to cram too much into a short time so it doesn't feel frenetic. On the other hand, if another hour (or two) would get us to an amazing place (been to 5terre) then I'm willing. Would also be up for exploring more on the France side. Does anyone have an amazing hotel or location recommendation? We prefer 5 star places but no more than 300-400 Euros (some are crazy expensive!) Thank you!
