italian restaurant for lunch near St. Peter's, Vatican City

Could you reccomend a nice Italian restaurant for lunch near St. Peter's, Vatican City? Three years ago, we had planned our first trip to Rome, and my daughter had asked your Travellers Helpline this same question. We went to the restaurant a helpful person recommended. It was small, with quick service, and served excellent Italian food. It was 5 minutes' walk to St. Peter's. (Unfortunately, we lost the name of the restaurant. )
We would like to go to someplace similar.

In Google Maps if you zoom in the restaurant's area and then search for restaurants in that area, there is a chance that your restaurant will be one of the hits on the map and if so that will give you the name

Hi Darshana: My friend and I were in Rome at the Vatican in 2009 and saw the Pope...how exciting it was as it was completely unexpected for us....anyway after the program and the Pope was gone, we looked for a place to eat for a late lunch and we found Trattoria da Romolo...I believe it was on Della Fossa Di Castelli right on the corner. It was a great place with delicious food. The prices were very reasonable as there were priests and nuns (I only say that because I assume they can't afford much) along with locals and tourists.
When we visited, there were, what looked like to us, a regiment of retired alpine soldiers with their unusual hats and feathers. Also, a little bit down from Trattoria da Romolo, we stopped at a gelateria and we got a good-sized gelato from the owner who was very kind and smiling. Have a great trip Mary

We loved Il Mozzicone at 180 Borgo Pio, not far from the Vatican. We stayed in an apartment in the same courtyard that the restaurant is in and we ate there several times during the week we were there. A simple restaurant with excellent food. And you'll see locals there as well as tourists. Try the grilled veal chop!

Mary,
Could the retired Apline soldiers have been The Swiss Guard?

No, they weren't the Swiss Guard. The Swiss Guard are the guards at the Vatican and their uniforms are red, yellow, etc. Right? These retired men's hats were dark green with a feather sticking out. They looked more like a retired group of men from the Austrian, Germany or Swiss mountain area....I am no specialist on these uniforms, etc. I really don't know...I was just passing on an answer to a question about where to eat.
