Italian Railways website rejecting foreign cards?
Has anyone used a Canadian Visa credit card to purchase online train tickets at the trenitalia.com Italian Railways website? There is a note about foreign cards not working, but Italian people I know say you can use it, others say no out of country cards works on that site.
What's your experience?
just buy tickets at the train station. I've tried to buy tickets online, but it has never worked. Also there is no real need to buy tickets in advance. Check the scheduel ahead of time, and get to the station a little early so you can buy tickets the day of the trip
I agree with buying your tickets at the counter in the RR station. You can ask questions and often obtain a printed itinerary of your trip showing train numbers, departure times, any changes required and track numbers.
