My husband has finally agreed to consider Italy as one of our destinations! I am thinking that we will spend at least a week in Rome and may add a short stay (3 or 4 days)in either Florence, Milan or another place. When we go to the UK we love visiting markets. NOT the food ones, places like Covent Garden and Camden Locks in London , or St. Davids in Cardiff, etc. What are the good (great?) markets in Rome and other Italian cities? Why do you like them? I love local crafts and artwork, so I'm espcailly interested in that.
Thanks! I also checked out his info on the flea market- that sounds more like what I am looking for. I love talking to vendors (may be harder in
Italy-lol)and artists. I'm not into fashion- but my husband loves leather jackets- so if I luck up and fully convince him to go, I know he'd love it.
Florence has at least two big outdoor markets (plus an indoor food market) and is known for leather. Rome has a large flea-type market on Sundays.
Most smaller cities have at least one weekly market. Orvieto's is on Saturday. They had a mixture of things--clothes, purses, kitchen appliances, food, cds, etc.
