Less than the 5 weeks I once waited to receive a post-card from Pittsburgh. Is that normal?

Received a card I mailed from Turkey about six months later

From Chile to Italy it once took me a week. From Argentina to Italy, five months.

Usually Italian post is fairly fast in sorting and shipping, it gets blocked once arrived near the destination at the local delivery level as there are too few postmen.

That was my experience. The postcards I mailed in April reached their recipients at the end of May/beginning of June. I chuckle to myself when I remember my time lingering at the Orvieto post office, watching the locals take care of everyday business, waiting for my turn to mail my cards. It seemed to foreshadow the next long leg of my postcards' journey before reaching friends and family... ;)

I think postcards don't receive the urgent attention they obviously need. Packages I have mailed from Italy generally beat me home, but postcard delivery is sloooooooow.

I have sent card from the Vatican and it made it in less than a week. I know it's a totally different postal system. I understand them being low priority, postcards that is. I still like sending them when we travel however. I always someone to myself as well. Kind of old-fashioned I guess.

I mailed two postcards from Sorrento at the same time to two different U.S addresses last fall. One arrived in two weeks and the other took two months. I think the delay in the second was on the Italian end ;)
