I will be in Florence and Rome for 3 nights each starting tomorrow, and I want to buy my girlfriend an authentic Italian leather accessory for our anniversary. I plan on checking out Scuola del Cuoio in Florence, but would love more recommendations for stores to visit in both of these cities.
Last October I bought a small leather purse from Del Guidice in Rome. It's small family business.

I also made an impulse buy at Bellerette store -- a pair of cute suede ballet shoes were calling my name :). They do sell some accessories in addition to shoes. They have two sores in Rome. I noticed on their website that they have a store in Florence also.
I bought a wonderful jacket at La Pelle at Via Guicciardini in Florence a few months ago. It’s in the Oltrarno, near Ponte Vecchio. It’s a family-owned small business with a nice selection of leather goods.
I recommend Papini in Florence--beautiful leather goods and great people!. It's located along the Arno fairly close to the Ponte Vecchio. Have a great trip!
