Italian language schools for foreigners

This is my passion, studying Italian in Italy. I studied for 4 weeks at each and have really improved my language.

I highly recommend: InClasse (Verona,) Ciao Italia (Roma,) LIS (Lucca) and Porta d'Oriente, (Otranto.). All teach all levels, except Otranto, which doesn't teach beginners.

The only not good experience I'd have was at Piccola Universita', in Tropea (inexperienced teachers,
clumsy curriculum and classes with students of too big a range of levels -- avoid this one.)
All the rest, in my experience, were excellent!

I'd love to hear recommendations from others!

We were happy with https://www.scuolaleonardo.com/learn-italian-in-florence.html. Many of our fellow students were European women on vacation acquiring their 4th language. We were used to being good students and so were shocked to have to struggle to keep up as old Americans. The classes were in the morning and included both grammar and conversation --about 4 hours a day. They scheduled many little field trips you could join e.g. a teacher would take students to a church and discuss the art and history in Italian geared to the level of the class. I seem to recall you signed up in two week increments of classes but it has been a long time so don't recall in detail.

I've studied at Il Sasso in Montepulciano three times now and going back for a fourth time in the spring. I really like the teachers and there are interesting afternoon excursions to learn more about the area and practice conversation.

I love these replies. Thanks, all! I'm especially impressed when people want to
return to school again and again.
