Italian Lakes during the winter?

We have some time off for the New Year's week and we've come across some cheap flights to Milan via Ryanair. We've been to Milan before and this time we wanted to possibly check out the lakes. Do you guys think it's worth it? Or do you have any suggestions of where to go in the area? Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

Hi Mike and Nancy,
I've been to Lake Como twice. The first time that I went was in early October. The weather was perfect, there were flowers still blooming, and it was absolutely wonderful. The second time was as a day trip in early December from Milan. I was extremely disappointed. It was damp, cold, and overcast. It just was not so pleasant strolling along the lake in the wind and cold. So I would probably suggest saving Lake Como for a time when the weather is nicer. If you are looking for options from Milan, perhaps consider some of the many towns within a couple of hours by train from Milan. For example, it is just a couple hours by train to Verona or Padua.

Thanks for the responses everyone! We're going to look into other places to go over this time period. Thanks so much!
