Italian house rental

4 families renting a house in Italy and have the opportunity to request a chef for several evening dinners,
it would be the cost of the chef plus the food bill.
My question is do we tip the chef? And if so, what is appropriate? Does anyone have experience with this?
On tipping in general its "not necessary", except for change!
Thank you.

Of course you don't Need to tip a chef, it would be like getting out of your car to tip the owner of the gas station. If I think at the chefs I have worked with, handing them the change would be blatantly insulting. And they all made mr. Scrooge seem Mother Teresa.

Any time you wonder "how much should I tip?" in Italy, you can never go wrong tipping zero. Yes, even in Bars where there is a bowl at the counter where customers can leave the change, even in such places there is nothing wrong in not tipping.

Dario, I wasn’t inferring change as a tip for chefs and I appreciate your info.
Thank you
