Italian Honeymoon Advice

My fiance and I are in the process of planning the details of our honeymoon for this August and would love some feedback on romantic or fun things to do in the different areas we'll be staying! Here's what our itinerary looks like:

Fly into Venice and spend 2 nights-- we've been here before so are using this as more of a relaxing transition back to Italy / get over our jet-lag.

Cinque Terre-- staying 4 nights in Vernazza

Capri-- staying 3 nights

Positano-- staying 3 nights

Rome-- 1 night and then flying out the next morning

We realize there is a lot of travel here, but were willing to spend some time on trains in order to hit all of the places we wanted to. Any suggestions on amazing restaurants or must-see/must-do things are welcomed! We love adventuring around (definitely want to hike in CT), are big foodies and looking forward to drinking great wine (any wine tours recommended?), and want to spend some time relaxing as well.

I was engaged in Italy (Venice)... great choice!

Are these dates booked already by ay chance? I think 2 nights in Venice is perfect, but IMO, 4 nights in CT is very long for such a small area. We stayed 3 nights and I actually would have been happy with 1-2, but everyone is different. I would recommend taking days out of the CT and putting them into Rome, and also, if possible, adding Florence.

Four nights in the CT is totally fine. There's alot to do and it's well connected by rail or boat to daytrip to the numerous villages even beyond the CT. We've stayed there many times for 4 and 5 days at a time. If you find a nice apartment (not hotel) to rent, especially with a view of the sea and a terrace, it can be four relaxing and fun days. Buon viaggo and congratulations!

Thanks so much! These dates are already confirmed and since we've been to Rome & Florence already, we're hoping to spend majority of our time on the coast. Any ideas on top things to do in these areas or highly-recommended places to eat?

How are you getting from the Cinque Terre to Capri? That sounds like one heck of a travel day.
Other than that logistical issue, I like the plan.

Have been to each of these areas and I think your plan is long on romance, relaxation and beautiful views.
For a Honeymoon that makes sense to me.
It is actually quite rare to see a plan like this since most plans involve moving too much and too fast to do any relaxing.

I will add this plan works because you have been to Italy before and seen some of the must sees.
Expect it to be hot everywhere and be very crowded in the coastal areas you are spending most all of your time ; August probably not the best time to go to Capri and Positano.

We're planning to just suck it up and take the train. It looks like it'll be about 7 hours of total travel time, so while that's definitely not ideal, we decided it was worth it to make this trip happen!

Having said that, any ideas of key things we should hit? We're trying to build out our itinerary and would love advice if anyone has any!

Venice you have been before so probably a good handle on how you want to spend your time there.
If I were to return visit I would do more exploring of some of the lesser traveled backstreets.
A daytrip to a nearby town like Padua might make sense or even Verona if you have never been since you have been to Venice before.

Have never been to Padua personally but would like to see a couple of sites there someday and Verona we have been and felt it was a perfect day trip town.

Cinque Terre: you are staying ample time to see all 5 towns, hike and really see everything there is to offer.
A good August day trip I think would be to take the boat trip to Portfino (only runs in the summer) ; the downside is this does take most all day but with 4 nights I think you have the time. If you decide against this the ferry boat in the Cinque Terre also goes to Porto Venere which can be visited much quicker than Portofino.

In Vernazza the Vernazza Winexperience is definitely a place for pre dinner drinks or sunset I think you should check out.
They operate out of the Gianni Franzi hotel ; same place you would eat breakfast if staying at the hotel changes to a wine tasting bar in the early evenings.

In Manarola drinks enjoying the view at Nessun Dorma are a must

To get to Capri, I imagine you would take a train to Sorrento which will definitely have a quite a few stops/changes in route. Once reaching the train station in Sorrento take a taxi to the marina/dock and catch the ferry to Capri. Not sure the hours the ferry runs but you will likely need a late ferry if leaving from Vernazza that same day.

On Capri, definitely take the chair lift to the top of Ana Capri. If you like to hike walk down don't take the chair lift back down, some great ruins and views are to be had. Explore the downtown with the gardens, etc...
Take a boat tour around the island to see the cliffs from the shore, these boat trips all likely include a stop at the Blue Grotto.
You will definitely have time to relax, there is not that much to do in Capri for a 3 night stay.
Do some Lemoncello tasting in Capri.

While in Positano ; spend a good amount of time exploring the town, it's beach and just walking around the different back roads which look like private staircases, you will discover shortcuts everywhere and find it very charming.
Make sure to dedicate a full day to seeing Amalfi and Ravello. Especially loved Ravello. It is easy to combine the 2 in a day via the SITA bus from Positano though expect the buses to be very crowded.
If you have time the path of the gods is a legendary hike for views and can be accessed from Positano.

Check out Hotel Margherita in Praiano. Off the beaten track and central to Positano, Amalfi, Ravello, etc. Love the town and the hotel owners
