I'm planning on being in Italy, Florence in particular, on May 19th, aka Pentecost Sunday. Do you think businesses will be open, that there will be things to do on this day or the following day? A friend of mine, who is French, said that during these holidays a lot of places are closed in France, so I was just wondering... Thanks for your help!
What kind of businesses? Banks and offices will be closed. Shops will be closed outside of tourist locations, but some will be open in the historical center of Florence for sure. Restaurants and bars are largely open.
Thanks! Yeah, I was wondering about restaurants, shops, touristy things...
We were in Rome for Pentecost a few years ago and didn't notice anything unusual about store closings. It's not that major a holiday.
It is a major religious holiday but most tourist activities will not be affected.
