Hello fellow travelers, I have completed a 3 week trip to Italy (report to come later) and fell in love with the food. I loved it before we left, but more involved now since we have visited :) My question is are there any Italian cookbooks one can recommend that does a great job for pasta? Primis? I got the lemoncello for the digestive, just got to get the glorious pasta for it. Thanks for your help. Robert
While there are certainly lots of other good Italian cookbooks available, I think you should start with Marcella Hazan's, Essentials of Classic Italian Cooking. She offers not just recipes, but classes on technique and backgrounds for the dishes. Available on Amazon. http://www.amazon.com/Essentials-Classic-Italian-Cooking-Marcella/dp/039458404X/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1307575047&sr=8-1
This book, given as a wedding present to Italian newly-weds for a number of years, has some interesting and easy to follow recipes. It is also a good doorstop! http://www.phaidon.com/silverspoon/
I have both books and they're great. The Silver Spoon is like the Italian Joy of Cooking. Saveur Magazine's "Saveur Cooks Authentic Italian" collects classic recipes that have been featured in the magazine.
I actually think Giada's cookbooks are very good with some easy but authentic Italian dishes. You can also find some of her recipes on the foodnetwork.
