Does anyone have any experience with hiking in the Italian Alps? We would like to find an area where there are a variety of possible hikes concentrated in an area where we could find housing for several weeks, keeping driving to a minimum. Thanks for any help.

Castelrotto / Kastelruth, Italy is near many hiking trails in the dolomites so are the Dolomite towns of Ortisei, S.Cristina, and Selva Gardena.

Look for the Cicerone Guides of the area you are interested in. These are my husbands go to books when he is walking in the Alps.
