ITA Miami to Rome--how early can we check bags?

Hi we are flying ITA from Miami to Rome. We will get to the Miami airport very early. Does anyone know how early before our flight we can check our bags on ITA? Also...when we leave Rome, does anyone know how early we need to arrive at the Rome airport?

thanks! Appreciate your advice!

Depends on what times they staff the desks. We have had times when my husband had dragged me to the airport (not Miami) super early, and we had to sit and wait until the staff arrived. This is especially an issue at an airport where a particular airline has a smaller presence, fewer flights out per day. The desk is not staff all day. Good luck!

If your returning departure flight Is Rome to Miami you will need to be at airport 3 hours prior as recommended by your airline

If your flight is not direct to USA then it’s considered “domestic” and you can arrive closer to 2 hours prior to departure time

For all international flights check in at 3 hours prior to departure is the norm
Whether you can check bags any earlier depends on each airline
A call to ITA will give you answers for your specific flight

Not with ITA, and not Miami, but depending on how many flights they have, the desk may not be manned until 3 hours or so before the flight. Even if the desk is manned, I have been told to return later, that they were not handling check-ins for my flight yet.

Certainly worth a call, but honestly, good luck getting an answer specific to Miami.

The ITA flight Miami to FCO is a nonstop. If ITA only has one flight per day, it's unlikely the desk would be manned much earlier than 3 hours before departure. Note that my friends had their carry-on bags weighed at the counter in Miami, as did I - departing from LAX.

The return is also a nonstop, so plan to be at FCO 3 hours in advance.

Thanks for your help everyone and especially thanks for the phone number. Miami airport says bags can be checked 2 hours ahead o the flight but we will plan to try at 3 hours ahead since it is an international flight.
