ITA Airways train + plane

Hi I recently purchased tickets for my friends and I to Italy through ITA Airways. It is a multi leg trip starting from LAX to Rome and Florence to LAX. I made the mistake of getting the Florence to LAX train + plane. I do not mind train + plane but I am most concerned that we have to travel late at night through train. I tried to call and change the time but the travel agency was very rude and unhelpful. Is it possible to not use the train ticket and only use the plane tickets. I was thinking as an alternative to purchase train tickets at an earlier time from Florence to Rome and arrive at the airport (not utilizing the train tickets purchased with the plane tickets).

Thank you!

Does the ticket you received have a Trenitalia booking code? If so, just load it in the Trenitalia App, and see if you can change it there.

Otherwise do indeed just buy another ticket. Because trains do not have a check in the Airline has no way to know that you did not take the train you booked.

I would proceed with caution, as the train portion is connected to your ITA booking.

From ITA website:

No, you have to check in twice, separately, and you will be sent two boarding cards, one for the plane journey, one for the train journey.

For your train trip
Log in 72 hours before departure to the Accesrail site, enter your ticket number or ITA Airways PNR and check in. Once you have completed the operation, you will receive the boarding card for your train trip.

If you have a late train from Florence to FCO, that implies you have an overnight layover at FCO? I would contact the ITA call center, even though you bought from a travel agent, and ask them whether you will jeopardize your return trip by booking an earlier train.
