I'm flying ITA Airways as the first leg of a two-part journey. The second leg is with Air Canada. ITA invited me to check in 48 hours early but was unable to check me in for Air Canada and said I needed to go to the airport desk. Will I be able to check in with Air Canada when their online check-in opens 24 hours before the flight? Just a little confused and hoping not to need to arrive even earlier ot the airport for an early flight!

Just another question, what did Air Canada say? I was on an AC flight purchased through Delta and I had to go through AC to get some stuff done.
ITA isnt (yet) a member of Star Alliance, so it's not surprising that you couldn't check in for both flights at the same time. Do you have a reference number for your AC flight? If so, you should be able to check in at 24 hours.
I booked my itinerary through Air Canada, so I have a booking code there.
AC really should be able to help you, especially if you booked WITH them. And with it saying that you had to go to their desk, I surely hope they don't expect you to leave the secured zone to go talk to them when you arrive into your layover airport.
