ITA airline and weighing bags?

We're flying on ITA from Naples and noticed on their website it says

"Before proceeding to the boarding gate, check the size and weight of your hand baggage with ITA Airways ground personnel or by placing it in one of the baggage measurers near the check-in desk. The hand baggage of passengers who fail to perform this check may not be accepted on board"

With electronic tickets these days we check in online for the flight and since we have just carry-on bags don't usually go to the check-in desk with it's long line of customers. But after reading this it sounds like we need to go stand in line anyway.

Can anyone who had flown ITA recently confirm whether our understanding is correct?

Also on their website at https://www.ita-airways.com/en_gb/fly-ita/baggage/hand-baggage.html is shows a weight limit of 8kg for the carry-on bag along with dimensions. But it doesn't show a weight limit for the 3 acceptable accessory bags. Do they weigh the bags together or is it possible to put the laptop in the accessory to reduce the weight of the carry-on bag?

I flew on ITA recently and my bag was not weighed.

Most airlines have a carry-on measuring box at the gate counter too. Just measure it there since the airline will need to check your passport anyway, or go to the main counter and measure it. The boxes are generally placed away from the counter, so measuring your carry-on shouldn’t impede anybody checking bags.

The statement you allude to is basically telling you to check your bag in the sizer to make sure it fits so you're not surprised at the gate. It's not a rrquirement.

In addition to your main carry-on, you are allowed one additional bag measuring no more than 45cm x 35cm x 20 cm. It can be any style of bag that is no bigger than those measurements. It is not included in the 8 kg limit and does not have to be a purse, or laptop bag or backpack.

As stated, there will be sizers near the check in desk to try. No need to stand in line.

As for weight, they could always weigh your bag.

When we flew 2022 from Catania to Venice they weighed our bags and made us check our carry-ons because we were over the limit.
