As bizarre weather around the globe continues unabated, it is currently snowing again in Italy’s Dolomites with Ortisei reporting down jacket, hat & glove weather. Plus windy conditions.
And neighboring Austria has wind and flood warnings with Vienna forecast to get about 10” of rain in the next several days.
It is summer, right?!
The Alpe di Siusi is completely covered in snow—-looks like about 6” worth. You will have to wait until it is morning there to view the webcam.

Last September we arrived at our hotel on Alpe di Siusi on Sept 24 and spent 5 warm, sunny days there.
We leave tomorrow for Switzerland and will be in a mountain village (Bettmeralp) 3 nights next week. It will be close to zero ( degrees C) at night. I just revised our packing list.
Oh, I hope we have your luck Lola when we arrive on Sept 29th. Stay safe and warm.
Of course I read your post as 32 Celsius at first! Thought to myself "that's a bit too hot!".
Due to Global warming, 32 degrees Celsius is the forecast for next week!
I escaped Bolzano just in time (after dealing with the strikes) and am now in Venice. It is clearly fall, with overcast--sometimes rainy--skies and highs around 20-21C (68-70F). I'd like to see some sun, but the temperatures are a blessed relief after a sweltering summer with virtually no breaks from the heat in Europe.
I am afraid that global warming and some very hot summers have inspired hope that the August tourist season could be lengthened to mid October, anyhow I already saw snow and cold weather in the Alps around September 20th in the past; the present weather is nothing extraordinary or previously thought impossible.
This is not really breaking news - Ortisei is at an altitude of 4,000 feet. Mt. Washington in NH at 6,200 feet had it's first snow several days ago. Often in Italian weather presentations, the precipitation forecasts will provide an estimate of the altitude of the rain/snow line.
Acraven, So that is where you’ve been— globetrotting in Italy!
Enjoy!
We're right now on a train that originated in Munich, on our way to Bologna; just left Trento on our way through the Dolomites. No evidence of snow throughout the Adige Valley. Spectacular scenery.
