Ischia or Sorrento

When stopping on a cruise in Naples, which of these two destinations would you recommend?
Thanks,
Jean

P.S. I've been to Naples & Capri previously

My favorite is Sorrento. Great shopping, fabulous eating, gorgeous vistas. It's a very nice town to just stroll through - stop for a drink with a view, a gelato, something lemon. The cathedral church has beautiful inlaid wood artworks. If you have time (like a full day), you can travel the Amalfi Coast by bus. For me, Sorrento is where I like to simply relax and enjoy being.

Sorry, I should also mentioned we spent several days in Positano so have toured this coast... as well as Sorrento. Just looking for something different.

So if you've already done Sorrento, Capri, Positano and Naples itself, then Ischia would be the logical choice. Have you been to Pompei or Herculaneum?

Nope but I have been to Sorrento and you've already been there so if you want something different, that leaves Ischia?

What might hang me up is that the only way to get to/from Ischia and Naples is by boat. Sorrento has train service as well so if needing to be back to a ship I'd personally be more comfortable with a location offering more than 1 mode of transport.

How much time will you have between disembarking and re-boarding in Naples?

I've been to all the places mentione, while Ischia is also a tourist destination, it's the largest of the three in the bay of Naples. It's towns offer all the shopping of Capri, but to my mind much more layed back than Capri and much less crowded.

There are not many sights to see but some cute little towns and beaches and of course the many spas.

If you're just looking for some quiet and relaxation, investigate Procdia, the smallest of the three, but not on most tourists radars.

Ischia is largely a resort island with a number of lovely beaches. There are a couple of sights, including the Castello Aragonese and the Mortella gardens but it is mostly a more reasonably priced version of Capri with decent swimming prospects.

There are certainly a number of boats to and from the island but depending upon how much time you have, it might be more prudent to do the Sorrento trip due to the ground transportation option.
